Did you know the Es Trenc-Salobrar de Campos Natural Park, which is nearby, is one of Mallorca’s most protected ecosystems? As someone who has lived on the Mediterranean for over a decade, I’m happy to share my inside tips and knowledge to help you make the most of your travels.

Why Visit Sa Rapita Mallorca?
Several years ago, I was staying in Cala d’Or and decided to take a day trip to Sa Rapita to check out the beach. I had read about Sa Rapita and decided to go check it out myself. I hired a taxi and made my way to Sa Rapita to look around. Sa Rapita is a quiet little town with a slow relaxed pace. It is built along a rocky section of the coast directly on the Mediterranean and has a handful of stores and restaurants that overlook the sea. The real star of this trip however was the beach “Arenal de Sa Rapita”. Where the town of Sa Rapita ends, the beach begins.
Sa Rapita and its sister beach “Es Trenc” form a 4.5km stretch of beach that has crystal clear turquoise waters and white sand that seems to go forever. It’s wide and backs onto a protected area of sand dunes and pine forests that run its entire length. If you are looking for a place to take it easy, this is it. There are washroom facilities and lifeguards and about midway, there is a small town, Ses Covetes, where you can find restaurants and cafes. This is all located on the “quiet” side of the island and here there is nothing to disturb the relaxed Mediterranean vibe.

Top Attractions in Sa Rapita Mallorca
To be honest, if you are looking for what the main attraction is in Sa Rapita then look no further than the beach. When people picture a beach vacation in Mallorca, this is it.
As mentioned above, the small town of Ses Covetes separates Sa Rapita Beach from Es Trenc about midway, so basically you have your pick of two beaches. This is one of the most popular areas in Mallorca and you will find lots of people during the high season, but don’t worry there is lots of room. The beaches here are known for their shallow waters and white sand, and they attract visitors from all over.
Another attraction that is often overlooked is the nearby nature reserve, Es Trenc-Salobrar de Campos. This parc is open to visitors and gives the opportunity to explore one of the only “wild” dune environments on the island still in its natural state.

Things to Do in and Around Sa Rapita
With one of the most beautiful beaches on the Mediterranean, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that some of the most popular activities are focused on water sports. But there is more to Sa Rapita than that. Below is a list of some of the activities you can do in and around Sa Rapita, Spain.
1. Watersports
With crystal clear waters and calm seas in the summer, this is a great place for swimming and snorkeling. It’s also great for paddleboarding, kayaking, and wind sports (when the wind picks up). Rentals are available in Sa Rapita and Colonia de Sant Jord:
- Multi-Hire (Colonia de Sant Jordi) – Offers paddleboards in a bag with a pump, starting at €20 per day.
- Sailing Center Katama (Colonia de Sant Jordi) – Provides paddleboard and kayak rentals along with other water sports equipment.
- Rapita Charter Mallorca(Sa Rapita) – While primarily focused on boat rentals, they may also offer water sports equipment like paddleboards.
2. Boat Tours
There are boat tours available right at the nearby marina that marks the end of the town of Sa Rapita and the beginning of the beach. Follow the links below to find out more:
- Sail Trip Mallorca offers tours starting from the harbor, exploring the coast of Sa Rapita and nearby beaches and coves.
- Rapita Charter Mallorca provides private boat trips, including traditional Llaut tours to Es Trenc.

3. Cycling
If you’re into cycling, there are lots of trails and bike paths in the area that you can cycle that will take you between the Mallorcan villages, countryside, and forests. Don’t worry, you can rent these locally as well:
- Berganti Bikes – Offers bike rentals with delivery and collection services across Mallorca, including Sa Rapita and Colonia de Sant Jordi
- Ciclos Mora – Located in Colonia de Sant Jordi, they provide a variety of bikes for rent.
4. Yoga:
Join a Vinyasa yoga class on the beach for a peaceful start to your day. They are located on Sa Rapita Beach near the marina and they provide yoga classes in English. Follow the link above to find out more.
5. Walk in the Park
Visit the nearby Es Trenc-Salobrar de Campos park where they have several trails that you can explore.

Bonus Activity
Visit an Ostrich Farm: For something completely different you can visit the local ostrich farm, Artestruz Mallorca which is only 4km away. At this family-run ostrich farm, you can feed, touch, and learn about ostriches, making it a great activity for families and animal lovers.

Best Places to Stay in Sa Rapita Mallorca
Unlike many other places on the island, there are few hotels in Sa Rapita but there are a lot of villas and homes for rent. Demand is high so book well in advance. If you can’t find available accommodations directly in town, you may want to consider Campos, Ses Salines, or Colonia de Sant Jordi.
To help you plan your next visit and to determine availability and price for the right accommodations, I’ve included a link below that you can use. (For full disclosure, this is an affiliate link. You can search to your heart’s desire for free and you are not obligated to book anything. However, if you do happen to find that perfect spot and decide to book through this link, I will make a small commission and would be very grateful. Don’t worry though, you won’t be paying a higher price because of the commission and it does help me to cover my costs).

Practical Tips for Visiting Sa Rapita Mallorca
The best time to visit is during the summer but this is also the busiest time. If you are driving from somewhere else on the island and want to visit, I highly recommend arriving early to get a parking spot. You may also want to consider taking a bus operated by TIB (or Transports de les Iles Balears) which services most towns and tourist spots on the island. You can follow the link to check out the most up-to-date routes and schedules.
For a less hectic and relaxing experience, visiting in the off-season is the better option. If you come during May/June or Sept/Oct the weather is still exceptionally nice and there are fewer people. I was visiting Mallorca last October and the beach weather was still excellent.
If you are coming on a day trip like I did, make sure to bring the basics (towel, sunscreen, sunglasses, water) and your debit card to buy snacks and you should be OK. Oh, and bring your camera, this is a great spot for capturing that perfect shot.

FINAL THOUGHTS:
Sa Rapita Mallorca is a destination that effortlessly balances tranquility with excitement. Whether you’re soaking up the sun on its golden beaches, savoring fresh seafood by the sea, or exploring the nearby natural wonders, there’s something here for everyone. Why wait to experience it? Start planning your trip to Sa Rapita today! Pack your sunscreen, bring your sense of adventure, and prepare to make memories that will last a lifetime.
