Whether you’re planning a family vacation, a romantic getaway, or an adventure-filled trip, Cala Millor has something for everyone. In this guide, we’ll explore the Best Things to do in Cala Millor Beach and help make this the best Mediterranean vacation ever!
As someone who has lived in the area for over a decade, I’m happy to share my inside tips and knowledge of this beautiful beach holiday destination. In fact, Cala Millor Beach was the first place I stayed when I visited Mallorca for the first time back in 2005. I traveled with my 10-year-old son and we stayed for a week. We enjoyed Mallorca so much that we ended up returning to the island several times after that, each time visiting a different place.

What Are The Best Things To Do In Cala Millor Beach?
When we first went to Mallorca, a friend had mentioned Cala Milor as a good place to visit on the island. He said that the beaches were beautiful there and he wasn’t kidding. In fact there are 3 distinct beaches around Cala Millor that are each worth visiting. Excellent sand beaches with crystal clear waters ideal for snorkeling. As it turned out there was more to Cala Millor than just the beaches, but we will start there and work our way through the list of the 10 Best Things to do in Cala Millor.
Cala Millor Top 3 Beaches
- Cala Millor Beach: The main beach of Cala Millor offers a long stretch of golden sand and crystal-clear waters, perfect for sunbathing and swimming.
- Sa Coma Beach: Located just south of Cala Millor, this beach features soft sand and a tranquil atmosphere, which is ideal for families and relaxation.
- S’Illot Beach: Nestled in a quieter area, S’Illot offers a serene escape with clear waters and fewer crowds, making it a hidden gem for those seeking tranquility.

Punta de N’Amer Nature Reserve and Watch Tower
This protected nature reserve is located on the small peninsula that separates Sa Coma from Cala Millor. There is a trail that runs the entire length of the peninsula and takes you to a 17th-century watch tower, set up for protection against pirates. This is a great place for a small hike or bike ride and there are great views of the rugged coastline and the Mediterranean Sea.

Safari Zoo Mallorca
During our stay in Cala Millor we visited the Zoo Safari which was nearby and found it quite nice. We were taken through the park on a bus and saw various exotic animals, such as lions, zebras, and other grazing animals. At the end of the ride there is a small zoo with birds, monkeys, a petting farm, and a playground. Great place to take the family for an afternoon.

Hike to the top of Na Penyal Hill (Puig de na Penyal)
Located about 2km west of Cala Millor, the Puig de na Penyal provides a panoramic view of the surrounding area. There is trail to the top of the hill which has an elevation of only 200m so it is not an overly hard place to climb but the views make it worthwhile.
Talaiot de S’Illot
Talaiot de S’Illot is a 3000-year-old ruin, located in s’Illot, just 100 m from the beach and surrounded by hotels and restaurants. Discover ancient history at these prehistoric ruins, where you can learn about the island’s early inhabitants and their unique architectural style.

Fantasy Park
Fantasy Park is a small amusement park, perfect for families (again, I want to stress that it is small). It offers a variety of rides and attractions (including go-karts) for both kids and adults, providing a good outing. For opening hours, rates and more information, follow this link for Fantasy Park.

Day Trips
Palma de Mallorca
- From Cala Millor, Palma is only 60km away and can easily be reached by bus. Check with your hotel or online as there are always bus tours heading into the city. You can explore the capital, visit the cathedral, and wander through the streets of the Old Town. Discover history and culture at the Royal Palace of Almudaina and the Es Baluard Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. Enjoy shopping at boutiques and taste tapas at market stalls. Palma is a beautiful city directly on the Mediterranean that makes for a great day outing.

Cuevas del Drach
- The caves were a hit with my son. We booked an excursion that included a boat taxi from Cala Millor to Porto Cristo where the caves are located. The caves include an underground lake and hundreds of stalactites and stalagmites. Highly recommend.

Cap de Formentor
- Visit the northern tip of Mallorca for incredible views of the Mediterranean. Take a drive along the road to the Cap de Formentor lighthouse. The road is very narrow but there are some excellent sites along the way. Once you get to the lighthouse you can hike the trails along the cliffs and visit some of the secluded covers and beaches. On the way back you can relax on the beach at Playa de Formentor or take a boat trip to explore the coast from a different perspective.

Soller and Port de Soller
- For a different experience, take a tram ride from Soller to Port de Soller, and see firsthand the beautiful landscapes of the island’s interior. In Port de Soller, you can hike one of the coastal trails that leads into the hills and finish off with a dip at the main beach directly in town. You can also check out the local shops or visit the local street market. If you are not sure what to do, just take a leisurely stroll on the promenade, take in the sights and finish with a seafood dinner at one of the many restaurants that overlook the bay and the surrounding mountains.

Alcudia
- Walk through the streets of Alcudia’s medieval town, surrounded by an exceptionally well-preserved Medieval wall (sections of which you can walk along the top). Explore sites like the Roman Theater and the Church of St. Jaume. On market days, the town has stalls offering crafts and produce. Keep your eyes open for Ensaimada pastries which are a local delicacy and very tasty.

Dining in Cala Millor
Local Cuisine:
When in Cala Millor, make sure you try some of the local cuisine such as:

- Tumbet: This traditional Mallorcan dish features layers of fried vegetables like eggplant, potatoes, and bell peppers, topped with a rich tomato sauce. It’s a flavorful vegetarian option often served as a side or main dish.
- Sobrasada: A cured sausage made from ground pork, paprika, and spices, sobrasada is a staple in Mallorcan cuisine. Its soft, spreadable texture makes it perfect for enjoying on bread or as a topping for various dishes.
- Ensaimada: This sweet pastry, characterized by its spiral shape and fluffy texture, is a beloved treat in Mallorca. Often dusted with powdered sugar, it can be enjoyed plain or filled with ingredients like cream or chocolate.
Tapas Tour
“Ir de tapas” is a social tradition in Spain where people hop from bar to bar, enjoying small plates of various dishes, known as tapas, often accompanied by drinks. It’s a casual and communal way to sample a wide range of flavors and enjoy the local culinary scene.

Top Restaurants
There are plenty of restaurants to choose from in Cala Millor and the quality is quite good across the board but there are some standouts. Here is a list of some of the best restaurants in Cala Millor:
- Restaurante “La Sangria”
- RESTAURANTE AMAPOLA
- Tià Jass
- La Terraza del Mar
- Sa Caleta
For the record, these places tend to focus on seafood dishes and if you are a seafood lover you will be faced with some “difficult” choices since everything is caught and served fresh each day.
Unfortunately, seafood is not really my thing, but I did find one restaurant that served the best rotisserie chicken with fries I have ever had in my life and that I still dream of today.

Street Food
In Cala Millor there are all kinds of street vendors and small kiosks serving various snacks so you definitely won’t go hungry here. However, I did have a fussy eater on my hands so I did have a small challenge on that front. Luckily we discovered a mobile crepe stand that turned out to be the hit of our trip and the answer to my problem of “what are we going to have for lunch today”. It may not have been the healthiest but it certainly deserved kudos for being the yummiest.
Cafes and Bars
In addition to the street vendors there is a wide assortment of Cafes and Bars along the beach and through town to choose from. Great for getting cool drinks or specialty coffees and just relax. For nightlife, the popular spots were the Coconut Shack and Cheers Bar which were favorites with both the tourists and the locals.
Wine Tours
For a unique experience, why not explore a wine tour at one of Mallorca’s many vineyards? The island boasts a flourishing wine industry, with numerous vineyards offering tours and tastings. Here’s a selection of vineyards to consider for your next visit:
- Bodega Ribas – Located in Consell, this vineyard offers informative tours and tastings of fine wines paired with local delicacies.

Best Time to Visit and Travel Tips
Peak Tourist Season
The peak tourist season on the island is during July and August when most regions of Northern Europe have their school breaks. With everybody heading to the Mediterranean coast at the same time, it does get busy so be prepared, plan ahead, and book accommodations, rental cars, plane tickets, and tours well in advance.
Tip: If you are looking for a less hectic experience, you might want to consider traveling in May/June or in Sept/October. The weather is still exceptionally nice and you can escape the large crowds.
Transportation options
- Flying: Palma Airport serves both domestic and International flights and is about 60km away from Cala Millor
- Ferry: The island can also be reached by ferry with service to the surrounding islands and to the mainland with the main hubs being Barcelona and Valencia.
- Transport on Mallorca: Taxis can be found all over the island and car rentals are also available right at the airport and most towns in Mallorca. A budget friendly option for island travel is the public transport bus system operated by TIB (or Transports de les Iles Balears). TIB operates a network of bus routes that services major towns, cities and popular tourist destinations across the island. Follow the link above for routes and up to date schedules.
Accommodations
The tourist infrastructure in Mallorca is well developed so there is no shortage of accommodations in the area. These range from luxurious beachfront resorts to budget-friendly youth hostels and guesthouses. There is also a bus system that services the island and car rental services as well. However, as mentioned above, summer is the busiest time in the area so I recommend that you book well in advance. Your best bet is to check online for available places and book as soon as you can. Check out the link further below for places available right now.
