Explore The Ancient Ses Païsses Talayotic Settlement
In Arta, you can visit the Ses Paisses Talayotic settlement, with construction beginning around 900 to 800 BC. The original tower and surrounding buildings were built by the Talaiotic Culture. This group inhabited the Balearic Islands until the arrival of the Romans in 123 BC. The tower and surrounding buildings were surrounded by a perimeter wall (built between 650-540BC, with some stones weighing around 8 tonnes. The site is one of the largest in Mallorca and is well-preserved.

Visit The Iconic Sanctuary of Sant Salvador
The Sanctuary of Sant Salvador was built on top of the Calvary San Salvador which stands 182m and towers over the town. From the walls, you get an excellent view of the town, its cathedral, and the surrounding hills. The walls of this fortress were built during the 14th century to protect against pirates and were restored to their present state in the 1960s. Within the walls of the fortress, you can visit the church that was built in 1832 after the original chapel was destroyed by fire.

Visit the Arta Regional Museum
You can find out more about the town and its history at the regional museum. Housed here is a rich collection of prehistoric artifacts as well as objects and items that highlight the town’s heritage.

Outdoor Activities
The town is located close to the Llevant Natural Park where you can go hiking and cycling after visiting Arta. You can also visit some of the beaches like Cala Mitjana or Cala Agulla and just relax in the sun. The water here is crystal clear and is ideal for water sports such as snorkeling and stand-up paddle boarding. If you’re into golfing, then you might want to consider a round of golf at the Capdepera Golf Club nearby.

Gastronomy and Dining
There are several restaurants and cafes in Arta that offer traditional Mallorcan cuisine and a large variety of seafood dishes. There is a large variety of locally produced wines so make sure to try these during your stay. You may also want to consider a wine tour and visit some of the local vineyards.

Peak Tourist Season
Mallorca is fairly busy in July and August, coinciding with school vacations in Northern Europe. As hoards of visitors flock to the Mediterranean coast, the area can become quite crowded. To help guarantee a smooth trip, plan ahead and secure your accommodations, rental cars, flights, and tours early.
Tip: For a more relaxed visit, consider traveling in May/June or September/October. The weather is still great, and you’ll avoid the peak season crowds.

- Flying: Palma Airport serves both domestic and International flights.
- Ferry: The island can also be reached by ferry with service to the surrounding islands and to the mainland with the main hubs being Barcelona and Valencia.
- Transport on Mallorca: Taxis can be found all over the island, car rentals are also available and there is also the public transport company TIP (or Transports de les Iles Balears), which operates a network of bus routes that services major towns, cities and popular tourist destinations across the island.
