Why Visit Canyamel Mallorca?

Canyamel is in a great location for those interested in exploring the east side of the island. With a beautiful beach in an excellent location, it is a great vacation destination in its own right. From here you are within striking distance of nearby attractions and towns but still in a quiet place where you can relax and spend some stress-free time. This makes it a convenient base for various excursions and activities.
Top Attractions in Canyamel Mallorca
Canyamel Beach: The beach is a little over 300m long and fairly wide, providing lots of room to spread out your beach blanket and enjoy the Mediterranean. It’s a popular spot for sunbathing and swimming, and is ideal for families with children.
Torre Nova des Cap Vermell: Nearby is one of the many pirate watch towers scattered across the island, a stark reminder of a dark period in the Mediterranean’s past when pirates roamed the seas. The tower provides a great panoramic view of the surrounding area and is definitely worth the climb.
Torre Canyamel: Further inland about 3km northwest of Canyamel is a small fortress built around the same time as the watchtowers. From its elevated position, this fortress served as a watchtower and as a sanctuary in case of an attack. It is now a museum where you can learn about the tower and the history of the region.
The Arta Caves (Cuevas d’Arta): Directly beside the beach are the Arta Caves where you can see impressive limestone formations. Guided tours will take you through the caves and point out the main points of interest. An excellent outing for those interested in geology.

Things to Do in Canyamel
From Canyamel it is only a short drive to the regional park of “Natural de Llevant“. The park is located on Llevant peninsula on the northeast point of Mallorca. This is an excellent destination for outdoor enthusiasts as the park has many hiking trails along this rugged section of Mallorca and also has some of the most beautiful secluded beaches on the island.

If you like golfing, there is a great 18-hole golf course right in Canyamel. The course layout is ideal for various skill levels and is ideally located. However, if you are a seasoned golfer and you are looking for a challenge, the Son Servera Golf course might be a better option. Not to worry however as Son Severa is only 2.5km away so you can golf at both courses without having to go far from Canyamel.
For wine enthusiasts, Canyamel is within striking distance of several vineyards in the area. Some offer wine tastings and wine tours, providing a great opportunity to discover locally produced Mallorcan wine. Below is a short list of some local vineyards you may want to visit:

Tips for Visiting Canyamel Mallorca
Best Time To Travel
If you are planning a beach vacation then the best time to visit Canyamel is definitely July and August. That being said, it is definitely worth considering travel in the off-season in May/June or September/October. The weather is still exceptionally nice during this time but there are far fewer people making all of the activities more enjoyable and less stressful. In addition to this, flights and many hotels have reduced rates so you get more value for your money.
Travel on the Island
Travel on the island is relatively easy (The island is only about 100km at its widest!) so regardless of where you are, you won’t be very far from most locations. Car rentals are available at the airport if you need a flexible transportation option. Otherwise, you can use the island bus system which services most major towns and locations in Mallorca. Follow this link at TIB, Transports de les Iles Balears, the main bus operator on the island, to check schedules and routes.
Packing Essentials
Packing essentials should include beach wear but also comfortable clothes for walking (there are a lot of trails and many towns to visit), and a good pair of walking shoes! Regardless of your activity, make sure to bring sunscreen to protect against the sun and drink lots of water to stay hydrated.
