What Are The Best Things To Do In Rovinj Croatia?
Top Things to Do in Rovinj Croatia
The first thing you’ll notice is that the pace of life is much slower than you are probably used to. Embrace it! Look around and take the time to take it all in: cobblestone streets, pastel-colored houses, charming squares, and centuries of history. All in one little old town on the Adriatic.
Visit St. Euphemia Basilica, the town landmark with breathtaking panoramic views of the Adriatic Sea. Head to the harbor where you can find fishermen fixing their nets and boats gently bobbing in the ocean—a scene straight out of an oil painting. Follow the winding streets where you can find small art galleries, shops, and boutiques showcasing locally made arts and crafts.
From the harbor, you can take a boat trip to the Rovinj Archipelago. This group of 14 islands is ideal for relaxing or exploring. With each activity here you can immerse yourself in the charm, beauty, and culture of this Adriatic gem.

The Best Beaches in Rovinj
Some of the best beaches on the Adriatic coast can be found in Rovinj, Croatia. Lone Bay Beach is family-friendly with soft pebbles and calm waves. Golden Cape Forest Park (Zlatni Rt) is great for people looking for peace and quiet in a pristine surrounding. If you’re looking for a more upscale experience, then visit Mulini Beach with its crystal-clear waters and chic ambiance.
Along Rovinj’s coastline, hidden coves invite you to escape the crowds and enjoy peaceful swimming in serene, natural settings. You can rent out kayaks or paddleboards to explore the coastline or local rivers. Or you can go snorkeling in the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic. Equipment rentals for various sports are available in town. They will give you an opportunity to explore the area and keep you fit.
Tip: Bring a pair of running shoes. Jogging is a great way to explore the area and see things you will likely never see, by following the normal tourist paths.

A Foodie’s Guide
Rovinj is a foodie’s paradise! The town is right on the water so naturally emphasis is on mouthwatering seafood dishes. Try the juicy scampi, plump oysters, and expertly grilled fish that have just been harvested in the Adriatic Sea. These dishes are served with earthy truffles, handmade pasta, and olive oil giving them a distinctive regional flavor. Make sure to visit the Farmer’s Market, and check out the selection of fruit, handcrafted products, cheeses, and locally produced wines, like the Malvazija and the Teran. And be sure to try some of the local delicacies in Rovinj’s local restaurants where traditional Croatian cuisine is cooked with care.

Exploring Nature in and Around Rovinj
If you like nature and being outdoors, then you will definitely enjoy Rovinj. You can visit the Punta Corrente Forest Park, which is directly on the coast and is perfect for hiking and cycling. If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing day trip, then hop on a boat to Red Island, where you can find beautiful beaches and walking trails. For birdwatchers, you can visit the Palud Ornithological Reserve and see local bird species and various wildlife in their natural wetland habitat.
Eco-touring is another way that this biodiverse area enables tourists to discover Rovinj’s distinctive ecosystems while minimizing their impact on its natural resources. Whether trekking through forests, spotting rare birds, or basking in the island’s natural beauty, you’ll discover a little bit more about Croatia at every turn.

Travel Tips for Visiting
When is the best time to visit? I recommend going in late spring or early fall. This way you can visit the area without the crowds and when the weather is beautiful.
How do you get to there? If you are arriving by land, you can reach Rovinj by road. You can also take a ferry across from Venice. Or you can fly into Pula Airport which is only 40km away.
Where can you stay? Accommodations range from charming homes tucked away in the Old Town to luxury beachfront hotels with breathtaking Adriatic views.
Things to know about local culture? You’ll find that using the friendly local greeting “Dobar dan” (good day) and respecting Croatia’s laid-back pace, will go a long way towards making this a great stay.
What to bring? Pack smart; bring light, breathable clothing for daytime, a warm layer for breezy evenings, and comfortable shoes for exploring cobblestone streets or hiking along trails.
Don’t forget sunscreen and a swimsuit – think Mediterranean climate. The sun can still be very strong here and you will almost certainly want to take a dip in the Adriatic at some point.
